Patagonia is an inspirational company. It inspires extradorinary commitment from its employees and long-term loyalty from its customers. This film explores how the company has achieved this and how it uses its mission and values (and storytelling) to create involvement throughout the organisation, to break down organisational silos and to achieve focus.
Patagonia demonstrates that statements about mission and values only have meaning if the ideas are used in day-to-day decision making – everyone at Patagonia not only knows the values, but identifies with them and uses them.
The programme features interviews with a wide range of people, from the CEO to the 13 times world freestyle frisbee playing receptionist, as well as group discussions and some groovy archive material from the 1960s. It shows that values really resonate if they link the past to the future.
The value of the workshop
This is an inspirational workshop package that demonstrates the benefits of a highly participative culture where people know what the company stands for and exists to do and the role they can play in achieving objectives. After the workshops, attendees should better appreciate how they can use values to make decisions, design products and create value for customers.
